Which metal is right for you?
At You Name It, our biggest seller is STAINLESS STEEL.
Not only does it have a flawless finish, but it's hypo-allergenic, just like sterling silver, yet doesn't tarnish or discolour over time like sterling silver does.
Watchmakers the world over put their trust in stainless steel for their craft.
Our stainless blanks are also thicker than the old sterling silver and gold-fill blanks we used to use.
But the best part about it is its price; you can get a pendant stamped for just $12.
Stainless steel blanks are available in many shapes and sizes, there is no end to its variety.
Our PREMIUM STAINLESS STEEL range is 316 stainless steel and available in silver, gold and rose gold colourings. It includes the tree washers and triple stacker offset washer sets, among other lovely pieces. These items are really thick and heavy at 2mm and 2.75mm and have a mirror finish. The rose gold and gold coloured pieces are ION-PLATED. Here is some information about the process direct from our supplier's website:
"We work hard to ensure our products are of high quality. Stainless steel is made from mostly chromium, molybdenum and small traces of nickel. Stainless steel is extremely strong and durable. It does not tarnish, corrode and will not discolour your skin. It is hypo-allergenic, making it perfect for those with skin irritation and allergies. The process used for our gold and rose gold products is IP plating (Ion plating). The centre of the circle is stainless steel and the outside has a layer of titanium oxide, which can be used as a pigment (gold, rose gold) and has the same non-allergenic properties as stainless steel. The process turns the titanium oxide into electric ions which becomes a harder and more durable coating with a higher brightness than that produced through traditional plating methods.
PLEASE NOTE: We have noticed other companies in Australia and overseas claiming to use IP-plating method and this has not been the case. The plating has worn off quickly which is not supposed to happen when using the IP-plating method. We can guarantee that when buying from us you are receiving high quality IP-plated products. We take pride in producing high-quality … we quality control all our products before making them available for sale to guarantee you are receiving the highest quality.”
For large orders of bombonierre gifts, gift tags or wine glass markers we can order in nickel silver to save you a few dollars.
Nickel silver can cause skin irritation, so it's best used for items not worn on one's body.
Likewise, if you have a special request for sterling silver, gold-fill, copper or yellow brass, we can also source those metals.
